Down Memory Lane 1: 2006
First day of period.
First day of recovery after first illness/body rundown of the year.
Chu er. Second day of the chinese calendar of the year of the Fire Dog.
Would her body be able to take the strunousness of dance after weeks of inconsistent exercise, sleep and stress?
She took a deep breath, determined. sat down to fourth level and focussed all her attention on squatting, straight down, legs apart. She stayed for a second before she rose back up, like a phenix from the fire. Like Sita passing her test. Like Draupadi, even, born anew. Mythic in her grace, silent in her triumph, elaborate in her self-congratulation.
First day in months in which she did not lose her balance while opening class.
The feeling of glory enveloped her through Shabdam and Thillana and she felt her feet hit the concrete floor with a certainty that rang through its layers, ignoring the vibration in her bones. Her eyes fired up the throng with the sureness of their gaze as she enunciated every movement.
And exited, tall and proud and sweaty and determined, not conscious of the shortness of breath beating at her chest.
Looks like the luck has already set in.
