Women and Men, please look at the Horrifying Link that basically states that women are stuck between a rock and a hard place forever.
Smart women who use their brains will be obsolete *sob*
Even more horrifying is what i discovered today... there is a whole community of people out there who are
PRO- ANOREXIA!!! Also, i read that the North Korean wants it women to stop wearing pants and revert to traditional dress (long, loose-fitted) to maintain patriotic fervor and boycott the bourgeoise western culture which was attempting to colonise the East through its culture, which Washington, of course, denies! Sound familiar? The extremist Islamic groups wanting a return to the burqa and full coverage, freaks in Chennai wanting to ban Levi's Red Tape Jeans (they really are incredibly low - you HAVE to get a bikini wax to wear them decently - which makes innocent girls actually attend to their sexuality through awareness of what all that pubic hair is for, besides making one look all clean like a child - I'm disgusted by this new waifish, paedophile-appealing look).
To me, all these seemingly isolated phenomena are all linked to one massive subliminal movement to make sure that women, somehow or the other, remain controllable.
Why is it that the more educated women get, and the more street smart they become, the less likely men are to want to marry them? Why is it that men are wanting women to suddenly cover up and hide everything that is natural and aesthetic and appealing - that is designed to attract and promote the propagation of the human species? Why is it that women have been becoming thinner and thinner every generation, so much so that it's been classified as a disease that controls much of their existence?
How much of this is a problem with men and how much of this is a fear on the part of the women of the world to fully take control, to fully break down millenia of patriarchal indoctrination and stand on their own as lords and masters of their own destiny without compromising the way men are often known to? So that every time one generation of women takes a step of progress, the next generation goes two steps back in other, more dangerous areas?
Every woman experienced in the affair between the sexes will tell you that very few men are confident enough to handle a woman more attractive, educated and accomplished than him without asserting his power over her in other ways, either sexually or by undermining her abilities or enhancing her insecurities regarding herself or him. This is why most men with beautiful wives will have affairs with women regarded not as good-looking as them. I have heard this raving from SO many women... men all seem to want chirpy cute smart vivacious lovers, who they convert into slaving robotic worrywarts after marrying them, and suddenly will turn aorund after a few years and ask them what happened to them! HELLO! We're nurtured like hothouse flowers in our parents homes! We are allowed that time for education, self-improvement, accomplishment, wit and sparkle and glamour! In our husbands homes, we end up slaving just to maintain normal order, cleaning, cooking, organising, planning, and giving up our time for our families' comfort - with NO time for ourselves! My mother and her friend were talking about this - that it doesn't matter because you WANT to do it, but when you're old, you will still find fulfilment in doing your own thing - dance, music, yoga, social work, maybe a career of your own - because you want to, not because you have to.
Women have been taught to give in to men, through generations. It still exists in subtle ways. Then, when women were taught to be financially dependent so they wouldn't have to give in to men, the men didn't like it it seems. Why does it have to be a toss-up? Women today are more stressed than ever before. They neither have it good in the workplace nor at home. If they work, they dont have the time to marry and have children, our automaton like workplace culture that Marx once feared is a reality. They still don't earn as much as men. Still men marry and have kids because their wives are taught to understand that they may not be a total priority. Competition everywhere is fiercer than ever before. In the marriage market too, theree are hundreds of desirable single women and only a handful of desirable single men. All these women are competing for these men, who obviously grow too big for their boots thinking they're desirable in themselves which is SO not true! And all these gorgeous smart women have to compromise with loser men. What about the women who are not smart and all that? Well, they marry anyone and are not interested in knowing any better.
The problem lies in the fact that the female sex is no longer being left dependent to take the bullshit meted out to them in the name of tacit inequality. Financially independent women have less tolerance power simply because they are more aware and do not need to be with the men... one reason that has kept women tied to men for centuries. The sexual need can be taken care of by multiple partners or a vibrator, and household needs by professional services. As companions, I'm sure men and women will agree to the fulfilment found by companions of the same sex. This goes to prove that all men have been taught to want are basically servants and sex slaves. I know this is a big generalisation but I AM generalising.
The point is, two sexes exist and each IS often attracted to the other. And women in general have been unable to fully shake their dependence on men - maybe it's an evolutionary conditioned desire to have progeny. Whatever. So women will try to do other things to attract men. If they can't be richer and more artful and wily, they will try to be more beguiling physically. Women through the centuries have been becoming thinner and thinner. In antiquity, being fat was considered beautiful because there was such scarcity of food and resources. Look at the luscious sensual plump women of the classic painters, or the temple carvings in India. Then in the Victorian era, with the corsets and all that, women were expected to have a waistline measurement the same as the age they were before marriage, so that if you were 17, you would have to have a 1 7 inch waist. I cringe at the thought! Western women got skinnier and skinnier, and the evolution in India was slower. Our actresses from the 50's to the 80's were plump and curvy with shapely limbs and generous pendulous features. The Twiggy look of the 70's truly heralded the skinny age in the West, and girls also started very slowly looking slimmer in Indian films. Skinny, with long streaked hair, coloured contacts, waifish figures, straight bodies. Sexuality increased both on screen and off, while proportionately decreasing sensuality. Nothing was sacred or secret or intimate.
Sex, the only thing really that keeps the two sexes bound to each other, lost its mystique and allure. Premarital and extra-marital sex increased (or was more publicised - who knows?), divorces rose. The shift in balance in public life between women and men seems to have caused seismic effects in all other aspects. Violence against women has increased in all developing countries as well who have been changing too fast in comparison with the languid flow of their past. It's like the demand for equality by women has caused a vengeful onslaught by men. The physical facet cannot be changed. Women will go crazy every month and get pregnant and feed babies. They can ignore all of that if they want to be considered truly equal in the workplace - is what men seem to think. That's because men haven't experienced childbirth. (not ranting here! It's true!)
So, the only way women have to create the illusion of control is through their bodies. They're thinking, "Hey, if there's no guarantee I can keep my man or my job, at least I can control my body and what I put in it. Maybe if I can control that, I'll be able to control everything else". It becomes an obssession. We have already realised that any obssession is unhealthy. And men get so used to seeing these model-like women fawning over them that they expect this sort of effort from their girlfriends and wives. HELLO! Normal women have lives! They have jobs and families! They are not getting paid thousands of dollars to lose weight! If I were a model I'd have nothing to do but go to the Gym and rehearse for shows and do a bit of jetsetting. With the cigarettes I'd be smoking, the drugs I'd be doing and the crazy hours I'd be up rehearsing and sleeping with rich men, I'd be skinny too (OK, sorry sorry stereotype alert. But it's hard to maintain balance anywhere). I know completely healthy, lovely, smart and sexy girls who'd go crazy if their boyfriend made even one deprecating remark about their looks, and go all bulimic.
Do men even like such skinny girls? (hey, if you're doing it for a man, at least make sure you're doing the appropriate thing. Better still, leave the fucker).
Women are slowly shaping the terms for disaster on their own because all of womankind is not moving at a uniform pace. Women have had to compromise and sacrifice more than men at every step of the way. Men don't have to be metrosexuals if they dont want. Women are the first to bear the brunt AND backlash of any social phenomenon.
I know it's getting harder for men because their cushy position is bein threatened as well. WHY are we doing this to ourselves? Why the pressure? What are we aiming towards? What's the point of all this technology and challenge if we don't have time for ourselves to enjoy ourselves and each other? Why do we want to be smarter, richer, faster, thinner, more attractive? Why aren't we happy with what we have? Why aren't we more generous?
We women are simply making things harder for ourselves and the future generationsby pushing ourselves to the limits. We think its for ourselves but really no one values it. We will all look 55 by the time we're 35, and have a string of achievements and empty hearts.

SO we've all met people like this before!
